IREN Defers $4 Billion in Annualized Revenue Over Microsoft Network Reconfiguration
Specialized data center and computing provider IREN disclosed in its quarterly financial update that more than $4 billion in annualized recurring revenue originally slated for calendar year 2026 has been postponed until at least January or February. Management attributed the revised scheduling to operational requests from Microsoft, which asked to modify and upgrade networking architecture to support approximately 200 megawatts of computing capacity dedicated to modern frontier artificial intelligence workloads.
Despite the deferred cash generation, the infrastructure developer posted a 66% sequential jump in quarterly revenue to $228 million, outpacing market estimates of $221 million as its dedicated cloud computing division doubled turnover to $200 million. Net losses contracted to $263 million from $684 million in the previous quarter. The operational adjustments arrive during intense market volatility for the neocloud niche, which has experienced valuation contractions amid wider scrutiny over capital expenditure timelines for artificial intelligence centers.
